Pharmacy is an important part of human life since many of our basic needs are met through the medicines that we take in a day to day basis. We can hardly imagine our daily routine without having some type of medication on hand. But what does pharmacy mean? And what are the different roles played by pharmacy in our lives?
In Canada, pharmacy technicians also hold educational qualifications as well as a registered pharmacy diploma, which qualify them for administrative positions in pharmacies. This qualification comes from the Pharmacy Practices Act in Canada. It aims to protect the public from the danger and dangers of improperly prepared drugs, over-charging and other pharmacy problems.
In our daily lives, many of us depend on pharmacy. For instance, we buy medicine to treat colds and flu when we visit our doctor. Without a pharmacy, we would not know what to do or where to go for medication. Also, we get our prescriptions from our pharmacists even when we don’t really need them because we have prescriptions for future use. This is why pharmacies are important to the community.
Pharmacists Role In Our Society
Although pharmacists play an important role in our society as technicians, teachers and care workers, they are not allowed to give injections or handle needles. This is one of the strict requirements imposed by health administration organizations. Therefore, pharmacy employees have to be careful when handling syringes and needles. Pharmacy staff are required to undergo special training especially when it comes to needle handling procedures.
Aside from providing pharmacy services to customers, pharmacies also work with other institutions such as hospitals. For example, pharmacy technicians help pharmacists in administering chemotherapy when a patient is diagnosed with cancer. In some countries, pharmacists are allowed to recommend alternative medicine that may improve the patient’s condition. These pharmacies also give lectures about proper medication and drug interactions. They also ensure that the drugs prescribed are actually valid for the patients’ illnesses. A doctor of nursing is thus instrumental in improving the quality of life for both the patient and the pharmacist working with him.
